So, I haven’t posted a pic of my vege patch recently, so I’m doing so now… To put it lightly, it’s going gangbusters. Looking forward to eating more stuff!!
Just a short post to say Happy New Year to the readers of my blog! So far the weather has been cool to actually cold- a quintessential Victorian summer, really. But- I did catch SOME nice weather yesterday… But today it’s been really cold winds and misty rain, so… 😂 […]
Seeing as I wrote a reflective piece at the end of last year, I thought I’d keep up the tradition and write another one for this year. It’s a monstrously long piece, but that’s 2020 for you. Needless to say, this year has been an utter rollercoaster of events, so […]
Gee, these plants are going gangbusters at the moment! Every day there’s a new flower, or a bud, or leaves… it’s a daily ritual to see how they’re going. I’m really looking forward to seeing actual growing ‘fruit’- at this rate I don’t think I’ll have to wait much longer!
So, I noticed last week that the plants were getting a little burnt in the hot Australian sun. Even ‘full sun’ plants can struggle a little, especially when they’re seedlings. So I had a bit of a Google for what I could do for them, and I asked my carpenter […]
A small photo update Turns out there were seven strawberry plants crammed into half a planter pot for about five years. 😱 Thankfully the roots weren’t too hard to tease apart, but this probably explains why the plant wasn’t doing so well. 😅 Bonus: now I have seven 🍓 plants […]
IT IS TIME!! After cultivating plants in pots for over five years, I’ve finally been able to return to using garden beds. I’ve grown plants in both pots and garden beds, but I’ve always noticed that they do much better in beds. These beds are made with treated pine sleepers […]
I didn’t realise how much I enjoyed cooking for other people until I couldn’t. Melbourne is in Stage Four lockdown until at least the end of October. No visitors allowed in the house (unless it’s an intimate partner, or you live on your own and you form a social bubble […]
I have a Ginkgo tree out the back that I’ve had since… possibly 2012-2013. Every autumn, the leaves turn a golden colour, and then they drop. During winter, the tree kinda looks… dead. And I nervously wait for spring in the hopes that I haven’t actually killed the plant. And […]
If you saw my previous post, you’ll know that I had gone back to my roots and started writing a story- because I felt like it. Well- I finished it. It’s currently sitting at just under 60,000 words. It took about two weeks to write it. Now I’m just editing […]
