A little over a month ago, I wrote a post about how I was very patiently (😂) waiting for the results of my Ph. D Thesis examination. I’ve written briefly about the submission and examination process before, but essentially I’d been waiting to hear back for almost four months at that point.
And then a few weeks later, I got an email saying that one of my examiners was unable to turn in their report- my Thesis needed a new examiner. The whole process would have to repeat again- potentially setting me back months.
Look- these things happen. My life has never really been smooth sailing, so in all honesty, this didn’t surprise me at all.
Plus, when you look at the world as it is now, I was just glad to have a roof over my head, a job that could keep me fed, and my health still intact.
Thesis results weren’t that important, in the grand scheme of things…
… That being said, I was anxious to hear back about my examination results. I’m only human!!
And then today, I received a sneaky text from somebody *coughs ‘Ph. D supervisor’* that the reports were back, and that results were imminent.
I heard from a friend that his results took a month for the Uni to release, so I was pretty much resolved to only hear about it in September… or October… Just… not any time soon.
Needless to say, today was a good day.
Things still need to be approved before my degree is conferred, so I still have some waiting to do, but from my end, that’s it! I’ve submitted my final Thesis, so I don’t need to do anything more myself.
I’m still sort of clinging on, but I guess after everything is approved, I’ll no longer be a student. 🥺
When you’ve been a student for as long as I have, it feels really weird to not be a student anymore, but…
At least I’ll have the title of Doctor!!
